Production had to explicitly mention that the director was a woman and would have to be able to go in and out of the men's section during the scene.
The team had a special meeting on allowing the FBI officers in with their shoes for the scene as the carpet in the mosque is used for prostration. So a PA wiped all said shoes after every take just to be respectful.
Iram went to 16 mosques all over New York before she found a mosque that was willing to let the team shoot in. Most common reason cited: fear of the media. Second most common reason cited: No filmography of a holy place.
Most of the crowd in the mosque is non-Muslim, and there were multiple sessions of prayer practice led by Iram, then Faran, and even one of the investors, who dropped in!
The film was shot in 19 days all around NYC.
